We’ve always loved our home and have a wonderful view of the waterfront from the back of the house. Unfortunately, we’ve always felt this view was lost to our living room and dining room where we spend a lot of time entertaining.
Our vision was to open up the kitchen to the front areas of the house to bring in more light. At the same time we wanted to have a more functional kitchen with increased counterspace and possibly even a ‘bistro’ style feel. We’d recently replaced the cabinetry were reluctant to make any changes there. Also, we had a full wall of mirrors in the dining room that my husband was worred might have to go.
Working with STARON Design opened up a whole new world of ideas we’d never considered. Irene’s creativity in re-using the existing kitchen cabinetry in a new configuration has resulted in a workflow that accommodates our every need. We were a little reluctant to accept her recommendations to go with a dark, glossy countertop and ochre walls in the living and dining room but once we saw everything come together, we just love the overall effect. We live a fairly casual lifestyle and she quickly picked up on the architecture of the home to play on the ‘ranch’ theme – small details in the ‘one-of-a-kind- lighting’ fixtures she found that sport buckle details go a long way to pull it all together. Even my husband was thrilled when she insisted the mirrored walls stay – they now bring more light into the space than ever before.
We’ve been so pleased with the results and are now continuing our renovations into our more private areas. We’ve heartily referred STARON Design to our other clients and friends….it’s a special working relationship that we really value.”
